What is ISO 9001 Certification?
ISO 9001 certification is a quality management system for managing the quality of a product or service. It establishes both company-wide and process-specific requirements for quality, which can then be measured over time to continuously improve the process. ISO 9001 is widely used in various industries, including manufacturing, engineering and construction, healthcare and education.
The company’s goal in the ISO 9000 series of standards is to standardize all processes involved in any business operation according to globally accepted standards and principles. Achieving certification to this standard shows the customer that the company’s processes and corporate management system is based on internationally regarded quality systems standards; ensuring that the customer receives a consistent level of service.
An ISO 9001 certification is a guarantee that your company meets international quality assurance standards and best practice guidelines in terms of quality, reliability, efficiency and accessibility.

History of ISO 9001
The ISO 9001 standard was first published in 1987. It was revised substantially in 2009 and then in 2015, harmonized with other management system standards in the family of ISO/IEC 20000, and renamed: “ISO 9001:2015”. The changes introduced into this standard since its first publication are identified with identification numbers beginning with “3”. The revised standard has been designed to be fully aligned with the international quality management system standard ISO/IEC 20000:2005, and to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.
The new standard includes a number of clarifications and corrections. It also includes some new material in Annex A that specifies requirements for documentation and detail specifications that are specific to a particular sector or product. This annex contains specific sectorial vocabulary where necessary, as defined by a list of terms in ISO/IEC Guide 51.
How to Obtain ISO 9001 Certification
To be able to obtain the ISO 9001:2015 certification in Pakistan, a company must have an operating procedure that covers all elements of the standard. This is necessary because each element of the standard has associated with it certain requirements, including those on documentation and verifying audit procedures. The operating procedure not only needs to cover all aspects of the system, but also needs to be able to demonstrate its effectiveness in achieving the required goals.
This certification is one which shows that a company has met its goal in becoming ISO/IEC 9001:2015 certified, and can achieve its objectives by proper preparation procedures according to ISO 9001 2015 Standard.
